Music is something that is genuinely incorporated in our lives and sometimes we don’t give it as much appreciation as necessary. Although, there are also times, when you literally feel like your soul is breaking out of the chest and the sound becomes visible without any drugs taken. That is the time, when you know that you and music is something much more than usual escape from the world, boredom and all that crap, that is the time you know you are united. This weekend Meg Mac, The Vaccines and especially Mumford and Sons made us feel special and connected as hell.

Live Review: The Paper Kites, Patrick James @ Woolly Mammoth, 31.10.15

Melbourne spouts some wondrous things for our nation, but none more delicious than the electric drenched indie-folk outfit The Paper Kites who have been soaring around the country for their sophomore celebrations. ‘twelvefour’ brings a collection of quiet melancholy to soothe the soul, but it’s not until they’re lifted from a record and radiate in a live space that one can truly understand the intricate magic that has gone into their work.

Album Review: I Thought the Future Would be Cooler- YACHT

It’s not often in an album review you’re forced to touch on McLuhan media philosophy and the convergence of technology amidst describing purely musical elements. But then, YACHT isn’t your average band- it’s more an umbrella term for the creative output of production duo Jona Bechtolt and Claire Evans, and in the four years since YACHT’s last LP ‘Shangri-La’, if anything they have become more conceptual and militant with the Lynchian disconnect of 21st Century living.

Over a hundred zombies, vampires, and other ghoulish characters packed The Brightside in Brisbane on Halloween Eve for the second installment of Bedlam Record’s ‘Deadlam’. Playing over two stages, the best of Bedlam’s artist roster dressed up in their spookiest attire and delivered a unique and entertaining night of live music.
