Still going strong after 25 years, Australian rock legends You Am I have announced a new album and a huge national tour taking in both regional and capital cities.
Formed in 1989, You Am I have gone from a name at the bottom of the bill at dive bars to being internationally renowned and a major local influence on the next crop of Aussie rock groups.
Their accomplishments include 10 studio albums, 10 Aria Awards, two live albums (one a 3LP boxset), two "Best Of" albums, hundreds of sold out shows, and supporting all time greats The Rolling Stones and The Who.
The forthcoming album cheekily titled “Porridge & Hotsauce” is a head-rush of rocking tunes tempered by songs that stretch beyond mere rock'n'roll tomfoolery, showing off every element of frontman Tim Rogers’ genius songwriting.
The first taste from the album is Good Advices, a song Rogers says was inspired when the band were given the opportunity to look back at some of their albums.
“Whilst it was a blast, havin' a peak behind us only compelled us to leap foolishly into the future.
“Good Advices is about throwing away the script and clinging to your imagination as the only guide.
“We've trusted our wits so far, and if it got us here, this hopped up and rarin' to go, our wits done good,” said Rogers.
You Am I will play shows across the country in support of their new album hitting all states, and performing in both Capital cities and regional areas.
Opening for You am I in Sydney and Melbourne will be disco rock outfit The Delta Riggs, with supports for all other shows to be announced soon.
You Am I’s upcoming album “Porridge & Hotsauce” is out Friday 6th November.
