Ali Barter Announes Headline Shows
Showing no signs of slowing down, Ali is thrilled to announce two headline shows to kick off 2015.
A couple of weeks ago AAA reviewed the debut EP of Sydney songwriter Mike Waters and with every day that has passed, accolades and plays have continued to stack up over Life. It's not long now until Waters tours the EP, and he's finally revealed his hand-curated list of special guests accompanying him in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
Adelaide will be supported by indie/ folk songstress Maggie Rutjens and Delia Obst (who has recently played a gig with other AAA favourite Jesse Davidson). In Sydney, Waters has recruited Ed Wells, all of twenty years old, with an EP under his belt and a burgeoning reputation in the UK as well as Australia, and Jake Howden who has also just dropped his debut EP (In a Picture). Finally, Melbourne has the pleasure of being joined by Ali Barter and the Sunshine Coast raised Mia Wray who was a crowd favourite at this years Woodford Folk Festival.
Waters, who had a Clark Kent-esque double life pushing pencils by day and writing the lightest, most life affirming acoustic gems by night, is starting to make the sort of connections that suggest he's more than a flash in the pan (recently becoming involved with WAU Management and Select Music). His EP, Life, featuring the yearning 'Gambling Man', trades on its heady mixture of "pop melodies and brutally honest lyricism" and is out now.
