Album Review: City and Colour "The Hurry and The Harm"
City and Colour – the recording and touring alias for Canadian folk-rocker Dallas Green – return with their fourth album, following 2011's critically-acclaimed Little Hell.
Following the release of his critically acclaimed fourth studio album The Hurry and The Harm, City and Colour has dropped a brand new video for lead single THRIST as well as news of two incredibly intimate performances in Sydney and Melbourne.
The much loved Canadian released his new album on May 31 to warm reviews, with Australian Rolling Stone awarding the LP’s spacious and shimmering take on modern folk rock” four stars.
Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, Green enlisted some of the industry’s most highly regarded instrumentalists to assist on the new effort, album - a delicate exploration of Green’s more understated alt-country influences. City and Colour’s artful evolution is perhaps best felt in the crushing, sweeping rush of the first single, Thirst, the video for which receives an Australian release today. With its aggressive vamp and both acid instrumentals and tongue, Thirst called for an assured and haunting video treatment, aptly delivered by Michael Maxxis and Rosemary Films.
Following up on his promise to visit his home-away-from-home as soon as humanly possible, Green will play these two intimate Australian showcases at The Standard in Sydney on Wednesday 17th July and Melbourne’s The Toff In Town on Friday 19th July. Playing solo and acoustic for these two rare shows, fans who miss out on tickets won’t have to wait long for details of the national run of shows with the full band to be announced on the same visit.
