Passion Pit Announce Australia and New Zealand Tour
Hot on the heels of the sold out Splendour in the Grass and just announced Spin Off festivals we are thrilled to announce that Passion Pit will be performing their own headline shows in Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth – including an under 18’s show in Melbourne.
Passion Pit is the dynamic musical mission of Michael Angelakos, the electronic wunderkind best known for his complex and multi-layered pop songs. Angelakos, who debuted with his notoriously charming CHUNK OF CHANGE EP in 2008, released Passion Pit’s debut full length MANNERS in 2009 and in July 2012, released GOSSAMER, the highly anticipated follow-up to critically acclaimed MANNERS. Take A Walk, the first single from GOSSAMER had a huge reaction from fans around the world shooting to the #1 position on Hype Machine within hours of it being live and was awarded Rolling Stone’s third best song of 2012.
Passion Pit most recently featured in the two weekends of Coachella as one of the highlights by all accounts. Los Angeles Times claimed that ‘the band’s mainstage set had the largest crowd of any Saturday afternoon’ while The Examiner stated that ‘Passion Pit’s live show is a spectacle’.
It’s been a busy year for Passion Pit who have had featured songs on hit TV shows ‘Skins’, ‘Gossip Girl’, the critically acclaimed HBO series ‘Girls’ and performed coveted live slots at New York City’s Governors Ball, Firefly, Lollapalooza Chicago and South America, Osheaga, Outside Lands, Red Rocks, The Hollywood Bowl and a sold out Madison Square Garden!
Acclaimed for their unabashedly danceable live performances, Passion Pit are bringing their explosive party to Australia and New Zealand where they will perform tracks from GOSSAMER as well as fan favorites from both MANNERS and CHUNK OF CHANGE.
Squeezing in an under 18’s only show in Melbourne at The Hi-Fi, this will be the first time Melbourne under-agers have had a chance to catch Passion Pit live since their Australian debut at the 2010 Big Day Out.
