The Trouble With Templeton Unleash New Single 'Like A Kid'
"Like A Kid", the follow-up to 2012s universally praised "Six Months In A Cast" exhibits yet another aspect to the eclectic, offbeat, slightly wild and ever-intriguing personality of this original young band from Brisbane, The Trouble with Templeton.
Says Thomas Calder, frontman of the 5-piece, "It's full of energy and mayhem, and while it's a big departure from the sound of the last record, the heart of everything we do is the story being told, and this is one we are very proud of."
"Like A Kid" is second single from their forthcoming album, due for release in Australia in June 2013. The band has been buried in the studio with Brisbane producer Matt Redlich finishing the record throughout January & February this year.
They will also be heading over to the US and Canada in March to celebrate the release of "Six Months In A Cast" over there. The tour sees the band play their own headline shows in LA and NY, and playing showcases at SXSW and CMW for Communion Music, Filter Magazine, Sonicbids and others, with bands such as Half Moon Run, High Highs, Imaginary Cities and more. The band and are also thrilled to announce that they will playing the full Aussie BBQ tour, from LA, to Austin to Toronto to NY. (Please see full tour dates below.)
Before the band head off they play a hometown show for their Brisbane fans at Black Bear Lodge on Wednesday 6th March, with more Australian dates in April and May to be announced soon.
The Trouble With Templeton has had a very exciting 18 months since releasing their debut album Bleeders. "Six Months In A Cast" and "I Wrote A Novel" have enjoyed national radio play and been Top 10 on the AIR Independent Radio Chart. The former was also iTunes Single of the Week in Australia & NZ, #30 Most Played Australian song on Triple J in 2012, and the latter was #18 Most Added at College Radio and added to playlists of 140 stations across the US. Bleeders also featured on the longlist for the Australian Music Prize (The Amp).
They've played with Of Monsters & Men, Father John Misty, Husky, Sparkadia, Julia Stone & Pinback, and some of Australia's biggest festivals such as Harvest & Falls. After very positive reactions at Filter's Culture Collide Festival in LA and CMJ NY last year, they head back in March, playing LA, NY, SXSW & Canadian Music Week, shows back in Australia in April, then to the UK in May for The Great Escape.
