Julia and the Deep Sea Sirens set to release their sophomore album ‘Family Pets’ this February

Family Pets is an exceptionally accomplished album of wisely written, intricately orchestrated, skillfully executed and masterfully produced folk songs that linger long in the mind after listening”

Canberra-based alt-folk pioneers, Julia and the Deep Sea Sirens, are set to release their highly anticipated self-produced sophomore album ‘Family Pets’ on 22 February.

The outfit’s second single, ‘Adeleine,’ once again proves Julia’s ability to embody a unique, raw honesty in her songwriting.  Dealing with everyday experience in a beautiful and real way, ‘Family Pets’ explores the fondness and heartbreak of living in a transitory town.

‘Little Surprises’, the first single lifted from the LP saw the outfit Unearthed through national youth broadcaster Triple J, scoring an exclusive masterclass with the likes of Gotye and Adalita as part of the inaugural Sound Summit 2012.

The band were recently nominated for Best Folk Act at Music ACT MAMA’s awards and announced as one of the fresh young faces of The National Folk Festival, set to play alongside Husky and Jordie Lane this year. Julia was also invited to perform onstage with urban-folk songwriter, Darren Hanlon, during his recent annual 2012 Christmas tour.

Julia and her 7-piece band have supported the likes of Australian music icons Tim Rogers (You Am I), Lanie Lane and Kate Miller-Heidke.  No strangers to the Australian festival circuit, 2012 has seen Julia and her Sea Sirens perform at numerous shows including The National Folk Festival and a headlining set at Canberra’s iconic festival, Corinbank.

The group is getting set to hit the road, bringing their intimate live show to several locations across Australia early this year.
