Feature Interview: Nicky Bomba 'The Melbourne Ska Orchestra'
In honour of Melbourne Ska Orchestra—a thirty-odd piece ska and 2 tone band—and their self-titled album, AAA Backstage’s Navarone Farrell caught up with Nicky Bomba.
After spending a lot of time in the UK, Melbourne trio Whitaker is back in the home town to proudly announce the release of their brand new EP and the launch show for lucky Melbournians!
EP ‘I Am An Animal’ is due October 30, just in time before the Halloween knocks at the door along with Whitaker’s launch show on October 31.
Whitaker is definitely full of surprises, and one cannot simply label them with single genre. Departing to the UK, the band had somewhat a reputation of the hip-hop act, when for their fans and audience, it’s been clear that it’s hard to hide from their electronic, spirited sound, noticeable in the debut EP ‘Witchita’.
‘I Am An Animal’ is certainly a great follow-up for the previous successful EP. Being inspired by retro sound, combining their soul, folk-ish roots, adding more deep beats and warm harmonies, Whitaker’s new EP is something to check.
As a tease to ‘I Am An Animal’, here’s very harmonious and comforting single off the EP – ‘Horizon’.
