Deerhunter's New Album 'Fading Frontier' Out Now

The latest release from art-rock band Deerhunter, ‘Fading Frontier’ is out now, and if that wasn’t enough the band has unveiled their video for the single Living My Life.

The video is the third from the band, and follows the mutant funk of Snakeskin and luminous single Breaker, and is directed by Deerhunter kingpin Bradford Cox.

‘Fading Frontier’ is the seventh studio album from Deerhunter and was written and recorded in their hometown of Atlanta.  Continuing a collaboration that began with 2010s acclaimed ‘Halcyon Digest’, the production of the album was shared between the band and Ben H. Allen, and features contributions from Broadcast’s James Cargill and Tim Gane from Stereolab.

Following the death-rattle garage catharsis of 2013s ‘Monomania’, Deerhunter has shifted towards a greater balance between melody and texture, with a brighter production and greater maturity in crafting their songs.

This album is not without its firsts, as the track Breaker sees founding members Bradford Cox and Lockett Pundt share lead vocal duties. The darker track Take Care (which features Broadcast’s James Cargill on synthesizers) and Leather and Wood paint a varied sonic landscape.

‘Fading Frontier’ shows that a decade in, Deerhunter has lost none of its intensity, and as the group matures so they have grown into the most consistent art-rock bands of their generation.
