Lanu Is Back With A Rise Of A 'Dragon Sun'

Long time no see, Lanu! It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Lanu and now he revealed the new single ‘Dragon Sun’ prior to the forthcoming album The Double Sunrise.

We may now all cheer and dive in the ocean of happiness, as the founder of The Bamboos, Lance Ferguson announced a return to his Lanu project by coming back with brand new, soul-warming, truly dreamy single ‘Dragon Sun’ off the upcoming The Double Sunrise album. It was recorded and co-written with Lance’s friend and amazing singer Megan Washington, French chanteuse Melanie Pain takes part in two tracks and The Melbourne Samoan Choir appears on the track ‘Aranui’ .

The single as well as the whole album is inspired by The South Seas, a region of the world that has been romanticised and mythologised, and which may be called Wonderland by all its meanings. Highly influenced by Exotica, the mid-20th century western musical, the album is filled with warm notes, floating lulling vocals which blend and crossover breezy percussions and spellbinding rhythms. Also, The South Seas is quite a personal place for Ferguson, who’s grandfather Bill Wolfgramm was one of the region’s influential music pioneers. You may feel the fairy, dreamy waves throughout the whole track, which instantly takes you to your happy place.

It’s not just Ferguson’s relation to the region that influences the enchanting vibe of the album, but the actual golden age of aviation plays main part on the album. The title is drawn from the mid-40s, when passengers of the 24-hour-flight viewed two sunrises. Quantas Australia/England Air were awarded a diploma welcoming to ‘The Secret Order Of The Double Sunrise’. Ferguson admired and had been fascinated by this story ever since and track ‘Aranui’ is actually named after one of the last surviving planes that flew this route.

By delivering the best dreamy, soft vibes of the fairy-tale, of this fantastic myth, Lanu along with Washington, Pain and The Melbourne Samoan Choir gets to your soul pretty quickly and makes you feel those warm sunbeams as if you’ve experienced the miracle yourself.

The Double Sunrise’ is out Friday, February 5 on Pacific Theatre through Inertia and you may pre-order it here
