Violent Soho Give First Taste Of New Album

Violent Soho may be busy recording their fourth album but it hasn’t stopped them releasing the first taste of what’s to come with blistering new single Like Soda.

That’s not all for Mansfield’s favourite sons, with news that the band will be heading on a quick and sweaty run of East Coast dates later in the month.

The tour will consist of three small capacity shows, which will be the last time punters can catch a glimpse and mosh before Violent Soho run riot through Singapore, New Zealand and all of mainland Australia next year as part of St Jerome’s Laneway Festival.

The new single Like Soda has a subdued opening, with simply Luke Boerdam and his guitar, evoking imagery of empty pubs on a summer afternoon. The rest of the band isn’t far behind to build the song up to all its punk fury. Michael Richards’ drums drive the song with steamrolling power, and the bass of Luke Henry and guitar of James Tidswell lock down the song and support the powerful lyrics about the stale suburban life and the rat race of life.

After the huge success of Violent Soho’s third album, ‘Hungry Ghost’, which was in the ARIA top 50 for over a year and saw them tour with their own headline shows and festivals like Splendour In The Grass and Big Day Out, the band turned their attention to recording new material.

They returned to The Shed studios in Brisbane with producer Bryce Moorhead, the same place and producer they worked with on ‘Hungry Ghost’.

No release date has been set for this latest work, but if this single is any indication it is going to be a ripping album.
