Sia delivers a spine-tingling vocal performance in her new single Alive, the first off her upcoming new album ‘This Is Acting’.
The powerful ballad was co-written by Sia, Adele and rising songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr. According to an interview on RTV Slovenija, Sia revealed the track was originally intended for Adele herself, who rejected it at the last minute.
Listening to the song, the dramatic build-up sounds like something straight from the Adele playbook, while the oversized pop production and electrifying vocal run from Sia makes the song her own.
The rest of the album will be made up of songs that Sia originally penned for other artists, hence the title of the album, according to an interview with NME.
Sia is an acclaimed and prolific songwriter herself, having written hit singles for pop icons such as Rihanna, Katy Perry, Beyoncé and Carly Rae Jepsen.
Working as a solo artist for most of the 2000s, Sia seemingly quit her music career in 2014 in order to dedicate herself solely as a songwriter. However a contractual obligation forced her to release one more album, ‘1000 Forms Of Fear’.
Sia released her #1 charting and critically-acclaimed album ‘1000 Forms Of Fear’ last year in July, which featured her massive breakthrough singles, like the 5x Platinum Chandelier.
The groundbreaking video for Chandelier has enjoyed an unprecedented 900 million views and its follow-up video Elastic Heart with over 395 million views.

It happens only every now and then: a band surfaces whose intoxicating display of musicianship, song writing ability, and undeniable allure makes one question why on Earth more people haven’t twigged.
