Best of the Rest: 5 Tunes AAA Missed This Week

Foals: What Went Down

Following 2013's ever-so-slightly disappointing Holy Fire, Foals have come roaring back to form with the title track from their upcoming fourth LP. Easily one of the most rock-oriented songs in their catalogue so far, 'What Went Down' is seething, pulsating and hedonistic.

Vance Joy: Great Summer

Recorded for the soundtrack for the movie adaptation of John Green's third novel, Paper Towns, Vance Joy comes armed with choiral backing vocals, the whimsy of a glockenspiel, and probably every shred of earnestness in the world. As FasterLouder pointed out, is beginning to get into murky territory when it comes to Hottest 100 eligibility.

Ratatat: Abrasive

No words? No worries. Follows 'Cream on Chrome' and is the second cut from 5th LP, due in July.

City Calm Down: Rabbit Run

Australian label I Oh You has jealously been guarding this band for the best part of four years, Gollum-like, and the Melbournian quartet have finally relinquished their One Ring in the form of the first single from their debut LP, due later this year. These guys are going to follow Gang of Youths into the major leagues.

Gold Fields ft. KLP: Make Me Feel

Ahh, AAA does love an unexpected collaboration (except Vegemite Cadbury). It's almost album time for the Ballarat boys too.
