Musicians Making A Difference Launch #MMAD4U Day

Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD) will be holding their first ever #MMAD4U day on Monday 23 November to help raise awareness for the grassroots charity and its work in changing the lives of vulnerable young people through the power of music.

The idea for #MMAD4U day came from ten young people whose lives had been transformed by MMAD and aims to share a message of support to anyone who is feeling down, lost and alone that someone out there is mad for them.

The initiative comes with the support of the music industry, media and artists such as 5 Seconds Of Summer, Tuka (Thundamentals), Troye Sivan, Birds Of Tokyo, KLP, Justice Crew and The Potbelleez amongst others.

An accompanying song, titled MMAD4U, was recorded at The Grove Studios by Scott Horscroft (owner of The Grove, producer and GM of A&R at EMI) with the help of artists Tuka and KLP earlier this year. The track was written by the ten kids from MMAD to inspire other young people to never give up hope.

These same ten worked on all aspects of the campaign, from the logo to all the accompanying merchandise items. All proceeds from the song go back to support the efforts of MMAD.

Established in 2000 and based in Sydney, whilst providing national reach, MMAD is a charity that encourages and establishes a safe environment and a creative safe-haven for young people to use their unique talents to make a difference in their own lives as well as within the wider community. They provide expressive therapy and opportunity to 20, 000 at risk and traumatised young people each year who as a result of abuse, neglect or tragic life events are struggling with challenges such as homelessness, violence, antisocial behaviour, exclusion from education, family relationship breakdowns, mental illness, drug and alcohol dependency and low self esteem. MMAD not only uses music and mentoring to inspire young people to break negative cycles, their programs empower them to use their own unique talents to make a difference within the community.

Music is a lot of things to a lot of people, so it’s really great to see some dedicated and committed people using the power of music to change lives for the better. For more details head to http://www.mmad4u.com
