Sara Storer's "Canoe" Wins At Country Music Awards

Sara Storer, one Australia’s most acclaimed country music artists, has done it again. The songstress added another Golden Guitar to her collection on Saturday night, picking up the ‘Video Clip of the Year’ at the 43rd annual Country Music Awards in Tamworth.

The award was for the clip to her incredible single Canoe, which was released last year via ABC Music/Universal. Directed by filmmaker Duncan Toombs, the song is dedicated to country legend John Williamson. Storer had this to say on the man who inspired her:

This is my dedication to John Williamson.
Tamworth 2012... I hadn't written a song for a very long time and at that stage in my life my little family was taking priority. I caught up with John at Tamworth and he had just released his album 'Big Red'. The energy, the excitement and the sparkle in his eyes, inspired me to lift the pen as soon as I got back home to Darwin. My Mojo was back…….

To my dear friend JW... Thank you for inspiring my love of song!! Oh yeah and thanks Greg Storer too... one cooked chook and a slab of beer in the post from Darwin to Warren.

Recorded with John Williamson, Canoe was one of the first songs penned for Storer’s 5th studio album Lovegrass.
