Big Day Out 2014 Attendance Plummets, What Now For 2015?
It's a bird. It's a plane. Oh no, that's just the Big Day Out attendance figures plummeting from the sky.
Well hot damn! The hum of Brisbane’s music scene is about to get a bit louder as Powderfinger’s bass player John Collins announced plans to open an 800 seater hot spot for Brisbane musicians and is on track to open as soon as the end of this year.
Triffid is the name to remember, because it’s going to be the next venue that you spend all your time moshing out at. What was once the WWII hangars near the Newstead Gasworks development will now turn into a thriving venue for music lovers and artists.
But for any of you that are old or recently popped out a child and are live in the area, don’t fret! Noise will not be an issue; Collins has your back. “We have been talking to acoustic engineers to make sure it isn’t pumping out volume to the neighbours,” he told The Courier Mail, “because inside we are going to have the best, professional gear and a big enough stage for decent-sized acts.”
No word though as to who will open the venue, but sorry to crush any fans freaking that it might be Powderfinger, Collins has ruled it out saying, “I would love to say Powderfinger will open the place, but that’s not going to happen.” Major sadness. So let your speculations, theories and rumours spread and start pumping yourself up for Triffid is going to go harder than anything we’ve seen!
