Applications Open for the Hilltop Hoods Initiative

Thanks to QMusic, APRA/AMCOS and Hilltop Hoods, one emerging Australian hop hop/soul artist will have the fantastic opportunity to put their career into full gear with the 2014 Hilltop Hoods Initiative.

All up and coming hip hop/soul artists or groups who have not released an album professionally with have the opportunity to apply for this initiative, valued at $10 000. Given the opportunity to manufacture, release and promote a debut album, the winning artist will also receive legal advice, courtesy of David Vodicka and Media Arts Lawyers, and Zoo York and Shure Microphone prize packs.

Applications will be judged by some of Australia’s most influential hip hop figures:

  • Hau (ACT) – Artist (Koolism), Presenter (Triple J’s The Hip Hop Show)
  • Nish (SA – Graffiti Artist, Indigenous Community Worker, Promoter
  • Ran-Dee (NSW) – Manager (Def Wish Cast, NTSC), Booking Agent, Promoter
  • Raph (VIC) – Artist, Clothing Label Owner (Blank Clothing), Author (Behind the Beat)
  • Tom Thum/Tommy Illfigga (QLD) – MC, Beat Boxer, Graffiti Artist, B-boy, Producer

Applications open January 14, 2014, and will close February 25, 2014. The winner will be announced March 27, 2014.
