Tame Impala are closing out 2012 on a high. The Perth-bred band, led by maestro Kevin Parker, released their sophomore album Lonerism in October, with the hope that their fans would like it and that the band would get to continue playing live shows both in Australia and overseas. Far exceeding their modest expectations, Lonerism was received with international acclaim, high chart debuts (#4 in Australia, #14 in the UK and #34 in the USA), and heartfelt praise from critics and their ever-important fans alike.

To cap off this whirlwind past few months, which has included sold out tour dates around the globe, massive festival appearances (including Lollapalooza in the US and Splendour In The Grass & Parklife in Australia), an appearance on storied UK music television show Later…With Jools Holland, and a cover story with trendsetting and highly influential US magazine The Fader, Lonerism is picking up accolades in many of the influential international End Of Year lists.

In addition to picking up the 2012 J Award for Australian Album of the Year, this week the band swept the triple j Listeners’ Poll, with Lonerism coming in at #1 in the public-voted album poll. Tame Impala also took out Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Song Of The Year for Elephant in the Street Press Australia Writers’ Poll. Melbourne’s The Age also named Elephant Best Song in their EG Awards last month.

With a sold out Australian tour just completed, 2013 will see the band continue their international touring, playing their biggest shows to date, including the just-announced Hammersmith Apollo in London on June 25th, and a sold out Terminal 5 in New York on February 19th.

Of the band’s sold out Enmore Theatre concert, Groupie wrote: “The most satisfying thing taken from this performance was the knowledge that the band’s live show can match the dizzying heights of Parker’s recordings.”

Tame Impala would like to take this opportunity to thank all their fans for their amazing support in 2012. They are incredibly grateful and are looking forward to bringing their live show to even more of you in 2013!
