Gig Guide: What’s On (Apart From Splendour)

It’s Splendour in the Grass week and many of you may be feeling a little low, a little left out. But don’t fret, we’ve compiled an extra special Brisbane gig guide this week to show Splendour goers that they’re the ones missing out.

Gig Guide:

Wednesday, July 22 at Crowbar. The Smith Street Band, The Grates, and Deafcult

Kicking off the weekend early, Crowbar have just announced a bloody excellent Wednesday line-up. The Grates will be prepping for their Splendour set on the weekend by joining punk rock legends The Smith Street Band and Brisbane locals Deafcult for one hell of a show. Starts at 7:30pm and tickets are $20, door sales only! Make sure you get there early to nab yours.

Thursday, July 23 at Eatons Hills Hotel. Ja Rule and Ashanti

No, it’s not 2001 anymore, but we are still unashamedly excited for Ja Rule and Ashanti to bring us a little of their R’n’B goodness. If you can’t already hear ‘Always On Time’ playing in your head, then there’s something wrong with you. Online tickets will set you back $87.98. But still, it’s Ja Rule and Ashansti!

Thursday, July 23 at Black Bear Lodge. Tired Lion, with WAAX and Blonde Tongues

Perth rockers Tired Lion are hitting Black Bear Lodge this Thursday on their ‘Figurine’ EP Launch Tour. Joining them will be Brisbane bands WAAX (who just released a crazy good video for ‘I For An Eye’) and Blonde Tongues. Tickets are only $10 so there’s no excuse to go.

Friday, July 24 at The Powerhouse. Christine Anu

The powerful Aussie songstress is celebrating a very special year, with 2015 marking 20 years on from her debut album ‘Stylin Up’. Anu will be playing a two hour set performing some of her biggest hits. Make sure you check it out. Tickets are $48 and doors are at 7:30.

Saturday and Sunday, 25-26 July at The Jubilee Hotel. The Dead of Winter Festival

Just because you’re missing out on one festival doesn’t mean you can’t go to another. This weekend will see The Jubilee Hotel hosting The Dead of Winter Festival, Brisbane’s horror-themed music and dark arts festival. Returning for its 6year, the massive line-up includes acts such as Tumbleweed, LORD, Flangipanis, Goon On The Rocks, Hobo Magic, WALKEN, Midwife Crisis, Release the Hounds, and many, many awesome sideshows. Tickets are $39.80 for the whole weekend.
