A Taste of the Year to Come

Another year, another fresh calendar - it’s time to get out that Sharpie and mark in the exciting onslaught of live music to come:

Bo Ningen: 21 January (The Zoo) Four Japanese guys with the most lusciously long, jet black locks you’ve ever seen, absolutely annihilating the stage with their seemingly bottomless pit of energy. Don’t deprive yourself of this experience!

The Kooks: 23 January (Riverstage) Kooks, you ain’t what you used to be. But I’m glad you’re still around.

Jamie T: 23 January (The Hi-Fi) He’s the British chap from Wimbledon who sings about zombies.

Ariel Pink: 25 January (The Brightside) Leaving his Haunted Graffiti on the walls of LA, Ariel Pink brings to Brisbane his always wacky, and slightly more mellow collection of songs, Pom Pom.

Belle and Sebastian: 28 January (The Tivoli) The Scottish pop squad are still churning out the happy-go-lucky tunes.

Spoon: 10 February (The Hi-Fi) The Austin outfit once named ‘Artist of the Decade’ (by Metacritic) are back!

Lamb: 10 February (The Tivoli) Australians love their Lamb.

One Direction: 11 February (Suncorp Stadium). Whether it’s ‘ironically’ or otherwise that you find yourself at this historical event - enjoy.

Angus & Julia Stone: 13 February (Riverstage). Let’s all just let out yet another sigh of relief that this genetically blessed duo did NOT split.

Chet Faker: 14th February (Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre). Start tending to those glorious beards fellas, you’ve got just over a month to get yo’ Chet on.

The Village People: 28 Feb (Eatons Hill Hotel) Young man, there’s no need to be down when The Village People are visiting Bris Vegas.

First Aid Kit: 10 March (The Tivoli) Adding a silver lining to our start-of-year blues, are First Aid Kit with their promise to deliver some of their sweet Swedish harmonies at The Tivoli.

The Black Keys: 2 April (Riverstage) Good news for those not able to make the pilgrimage to Byron Bluesfest - the Keys are comin’ to Brisbane!

Ricky Martin: 28 April (Brisbane Entertainment Centre) Livin' la vida Brisvegas…

alt-j: 8 May (Riverstage) These talented lads obviously have Frequent Flyer’s points to burn - back Down Under again! We’re not complaining.

Spandau Ballet: 13 May (Brisbane Entertainment Centre) Got your suit jacket dry-cleaned and ready?

Nickelback: 20 May (TBA) I think they said they want their nickels back, not they want Nickelback…

Taylor Swift: 5 December (Suncorp Stadium) All hail the queen…

Neil Diamond: 3 & 5 November (Brisbane Entertainment Centre) Just don’t play too many of those new releases, Neil. Sweet Caroline is what we came to hear!
