December Gig Guide

Tis’ the season to see a live act. Boys and girls the city over have been (mostly) nice all year and the jolly venues of Brisbane have decided to reward this with a stack of great gigs for us all. And in true holiday spirit, we’ve decided to let you all know the pick of the bunch.

Kicking us off with shows tonight and tomorrow is the pop-punk powerhouse Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. These guys have been entertaining crowds for a decade and now, with the release of their 4th studio album, have returned to Australia. Playing alongside special guests Hawthorn Heights, you are sure to hear some classic tracks, like Face Down and Damn Regret, as well plenty from their new record.

Dates

Thursday 4th Dec @ The Brightside

Friday 5th Dec @ The Lab

Next up is Delta Riggs. The Melbourne rockers will be here on the 6th with guests Lime Cordiale and WAAX. Known for their sheer energy and psychedelic blues-rock tunes, Delta Riggs will no doubt get you groovin’. The band is also set to release a new album post-tour so be sure to look out for that one. The gig is 18+, so sorry kids, you’ll have to miss out on this one.

Dates

Saturday 6th Dec @ The Triffid (18+)

If you feel like being taken on a journey into an indie pop wonderland, (form which you may never return) then you have to see The War On Drugs. With Shins like sounds coming out of their new album, Lost In The Dream, The War On Drugs have a magical presence which will have you mellowed and transfixed at the same time. Brisbane, you have been warned, this is not one to miss out on.

Dates

Wednesday 10th Dec @ The Zoo

Teen Sensations may just be the most exciting band you see this summer. The fresh faced Brissy boys are captivating crowds with their catchy surf pop that will have you twisting and shaking all over the dance floor. Coming off the back of recent successful Halloween release, they will have you falling in love with an irresistible live set.

Dates

Thursday 11th Dec @ Alhambra Lounge (18+)

At the door.

Hey Geronimo are another one of those breakthrough indie rock bands who are making waves in Aussie music. With a sound which could make even the most boring of human beings tap their feet, these guys are probably the offspring of Jack White and The Beach Boys (science permitting). Get some friends and get to the Black Bear Lodge. You won’t regret it.

Dates

Thursday 18th Dec @ Black Bear Lodge (18+)

Finally we have Mosman Alder. This six-piece are home-grown heroes. The self dubbed 'alternative' group have just released a very solid album by the name of Humdrum Star. Have a listen to that and there’s no doubt you’ll be wanting to catch their show in a couple of weeks time.
