The Beards have announced that they have been forced to change venues for their World Beard Day event on the 7th of September due to unscheduled building works associated with the development next door to the Annandale Hotel.
The band will move the show also featuring Jackson Firebird, The Stiffys , Manchoir and Atlas B Salvesen to The Manning Bar, all tickets already purchased will be valid for the new venue.
Vocalist and spokesperson for The Beards, Johann Beardraven said they had become aware of the Annandale's immenent closure today. Though related to building works the bearded frontman thinks there is a bigger conspiracy at work here with World Beard Day falling on the same day as the federal election. "This is yet another example of our beardless government conspiring against the bearded, “ the facially hirsuit vocalist offered. He continued, “Fear not-we will not allow ourselves to be persecuted by such underhanded tactics. The bearded people of this nation will stand strong and rise up as one."
Along with an apology to all acts booked to play during this period The Annandale issued the following statement: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Annandale Hotel will be temporarily closed from Monday September 2. Unscheduled building works associated with the development next to the hotel have left the venue with no choice but to close until September 16, when the new operators will take control of operations.”
What is World Beard Day?
World Beard Day is celebrated annually on an international level on the first Saturday of September and is characterised by bearded people from every nation and continent gathering together with their beards. Globally, World Beard Day events range from small, private gatherings in the family home to lavish public events. Whilst many countries and cities practice World Beard Day customs specific to their own region, shaving on World Beard Day is universally considered to be highly disrespectful.
The World Beard Day event will be hosted by bearded comedian Dave Callan and will be streamed live right around the world.
