Watch Marilyn Manson Join the Smashing Pumpkins On Stage for "Ava Adore"

In what has been a fantastic tour for collaborations, guest spots and surprise appearances, Soundwave Festival concluded last night in Sydney with Marilyn Manson joining the Smashing Pumpkins on stage to perform their 1998 hit “Ava Adore.”

Manson, who was joined by an axe-wielding Johnny Depp (guitar, that is- although I personally wouldn’t put much past Depp and Manson) for a rendition of “The Beautiful People” during the former’s Brisbane sideshow last Friday, had previously alluded to a likely collaboration with Corgan:

“Me and Billy Corgan have been hanging out a lot… We haven’t seen each other for 15 years and so we’ve been spending a lot of time. And there’s a possibility we’re going to be spending a lot more time together on the stage, possibly, I hope.”

Manson adds a grimy, grungy veneer to the classic, veritably spitting out the opening lines, “It’s you that I adore / You’ll always be my whore.” Corgan, dressed in white, plays the preacher to Manson’s black-clad devil. You are never likely to see an odder couple on stage; you are also unlikely to hear anything better this week.
