Festival Hopping At Its Finest

Ever been asked, "what is your dream job?” and been completely stumped? I mean there are heaps of great jobs out there… chocolate taster, professional sleeper and so on. But none rival this. The ultimate in dream jobs. The holy grail of dreams. When I grow up, I want to be a festival hopper!

Where better to start than the European Summer of festivals. Here’s a few amazing festivals that any aspiring festival hopper should check out this year and the rest of us should dream of selling our soul for.

Pinkpop Festival     7-9 June

Pinkpop Festival is an annual pop music festival held at in the Netherlands. Pinkpop is three spectacular days with a 60,000 people per day capacity, and is the oldest and longest running dedicated pop and rock music festival in the world.

The lineup includes: The Rolling Stones, The Arctic Monkeys, Metallica, John Mayer, Arcade Fire, Ed Sheeran, The Kooks, Editors, Bastille, Haim & Limp Bizkit.

The Isle of Wight     12-15 June

The award winning Isle of Wight Festival takes place every June in Newport off the south coast of England and is a must. The Festival is famed for its heritage and as the UK’s first major music event of the summer; it always delivers the festival hopper with a line up to die for.

The lineup includes: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Biffy Clyro, Calvin Harris, Rudimental, The Specials, Kings Of Leon, Fall Out Boy, Passenger & Suede.

INmusic         23-25 June

Taking place over not one but TWO islands in Croatia, INmusic is Europe’s largest open-air music festival. Welcoming 60,000 music fans to venture through six stages and a rock heavy lineup, INmusic includes sprinkles of pop and rock sub-genre acts from indie all the way to metal.

The lineup includes: The Black Keys, Pixies, MGMT, Foals, The Fratellies, Wolfmother, Flogging Molly & Bombay Bicycle Club.

Glastonbury June    25-29 June

Then there is Glastonbury, undoubtedly one of the most coveted festivals on the festival hoppers list. Glastonbury has all the best aspects of being at a festival in one astonishing bundle. It's like going to another country, a hip and thrilling annual event that every festival hopper must do at least once.

The lineup includes: Metallica, Arcade Fire, Jack White, The Black Keys, Robert Plant, Lana Del Rey, De La Soul, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Skrillex & M.I.A.

Roskilde Festival    29 June – 6 July

Roskilde Festival, held in Denmark, is the largest North European culture and music festival and been around since 1971. Along with a lineup that never, ever disappoints, the festival is also famed for its annual nude run which has become one of the most popular features of the festival.

The lineup includes: The Rolling Stones, The Arctic Monkeys, Interpol, Damon Albarn, Drake, Major Laxer, Outkast, Stevie Wonder, Bastille, Carcass & Chance The Rapper.

Paléo Festival de Nyon       22-27 July

The Paléo Festival de Nyon, usually just called Paléo, is an annual rock festival held in Switzerland. It started in a small way in 1976 as the Nyon Folk Festival but today is one of the major open-air music festivals in mainland Europe, with some of the world’s most major artists enticing festival hoppers.

The lineup includes: Elton John, The Black Keys, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Jake Bugg, Jack Johnson, The Prodigy, James Blunt, Vanessa Paradis, Placebo & The National.

Sziget Festival          11-18 August

Sziget Festival is one of the biggest multicultural events in Europe, starting in 1993, the festival attracts almost 400,000 fans from over 70 countries to a beautiful island in the heart of Budapest. It is a complete festival-holiday experience with non-stop partying, great live concerts, a widely international community and all the touristic features the city has to offer.

The lineup includes: Queens of the Stone Age, The Prodigy, Blink 182, Outkast, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Placebo, Skrillex, Calvin Harris, Cee Lo Green, & Lilly Allen.
