A Splendour Surprise

Still deciding whether or not to take the plunge and fork out the big bucks for your 3-day Splendour in the Grass ticket? Perhaps the latest addition of three big, new acts will make up your mind.

The three new artists that were confirmed on Monday are US rapper Childish Gambino, UK singer Sam Smith and Aussie hip-hop legends Hilltop Hoods.

While the festival typically only releases one major lineup, Splendour co-producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco later explained that, “We didn't get these three confirmed in time for the lineup announce last Wednesday - too many cocktails over Easter - so we have a special edition announce for you! Better late than never!”

Childish Gambino and Hilltop Hoods join an already stellar hip-hop contingent, (think Outkast and Danny Brown) and will both have new material for their Splendour fans. Actor, writer, comedian and rapper Childish Gambino’s new album Because The Internet dropped last December, and Hilltop Hoods are expected to release a new album this year.

Meanwhile, soul-inspired Sam Smith will arrive in the country hot off some heavy European buzz having featured on Disclosure’s breakthrough single Latch as well as working on his debut solo album, due to be released in late May, just in time for Splendour in the Grass!

If you haven’t already locked in your tickets during pre-sale, general public tickets go on sale at 9am TOMORROW! You know the drill. It’s Splendour so you can bet your bottom dollar that tickets will go fast!
