Laneway Stage Presented by Red Bull Music Academy & Future Classic

Red Bull Laneway

Red Bull Music Academy and Future Classic are combining at this year’s St Jerome’s Laneway Festival to showcase some of the world’s best electronic and hip-hop acts on the“Red Bull Music Academy presents Future Classic” stage.

The stage will feature standout performances from RBMA alumni and Future Classic friends alike, drawing in the diverse creative talents of Four Tet, Jamie xx, Jagwar Ma, Mount Kimbie, Cashmere Cat, XXYYXX, Earl Sweatshirt, Run The Jewels, Autre Ne Veut and Scenic.

As if excitement levels weren’t already at an immeasurable high, the kids at Future Classichave now decided to treat their followers to FREE music from the acts appearing on the stage. Every week in the lead up to the festival, the likes of Jagwar Ma, Mount Kimbie, XXYYXX and more will give away a free track to go alongside the previously releasedRBMA x Future Classic Laneway Festival mixtape, which is already ripping through Soundcloud and provides the perfect backdrop to some of the most anticipated festival performances of 2014.

The first track released to celebrate this collaboration came from Jagwar Ma, who gifted the Pachanga Boys’ Jagwar Pawar version of “Come Save Me”  in advance of their headline sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne last week. The Future Classic Soundcloud page is currently melting with the (free) sounds of Mount Kimbie’s “Made to Stray”, taken from critically acclaimed 2013 album, “Cold Spring Fault Less Youth”. Followers of the Future Classic Soundcloud page can expect more free love from XXYYXX, Cashmere Catand Jamie XX over the coming weeks.

This partnership with Future Classic and Laneway Festival is a natural evolution for Red Bull Music Academy, which has been committed to supporting the music world at all levels for the past fifteen years. RBMA is a world-travelling series of music workshops and festivals: a platform for those who make a difference in today's musical landscape. The actual Academy itself runs for two weeks in a different city each year, most recently in NYC and set to hit Tokyo in 2014.

RBMA will also be hitting Sydney’s Goodgod Small Club on Thursday 13 February, as part of its FREE monthly club night series, with Wordlife (live), Cliques, Bad Ezzy and Max Gosford on support duties for LA based DJ/producer Kingdom, before heading south to Boney in Melbourne, where Oscar Key Sung (live), Michael Ozone and Air Max '97will be setting the stage on Friday 14 February.
