Daniel Lee Kendall live Review @ Ric's Cafe -23.06.2011
Before Daniel Lee Kendall took to the stage the front room of Ric’s bar was packed like a tin of sardines, literally overflowing - girls were perched atop of the bar to make room (probably also to get a better view of DLK) and only those dying of thirst dared leave their ‘spot’ for a drink.
Kendal was surprisingly very natural and confident on stage and joked and chatted with the audience visibly enjoying their enthusiasm and company. Not long into his first song I couldn’t help noticing how effortlessly Kendal recreated both the sound and mood of his recordings. His voice really is that velvety and (when he wants it to be) powerful, I was genuinely impressed.

Last Night at The Zoo: Eskimo Joe!
Eskimo Joe @ The Zoo – May 26th, 2011.
The Autoharp is an under-utilised instrument in pop music. Felicity Groom intends to change this, with half of her set performed to the chiming strings of this unusual instrument. Her dark and sensitive lyrics contrast with the crash of electric guitar making for an interesting show, Felicity has an unwavering energy that warms the room and lets us know we are in for a special night.

The opportunities in Brisbane for an up an coming musician to perform in an established venue are limited, but that is exactly what Lakia Pattinson from The Mustang Bar intends to change. The Making Musos event, held for the first time last Sunday evening, is a chance for musicians to play, get their name out there and get some recognition in Brisbane.
