AC/DC Have Announced Two Huge Support Acts For Their Australian Tour

Swedish rock band The Hives and Australia’s own Kingswood have been confirmed as the support bands for the Australian leg of AC/DC’s Rock Or Bust world tour.

For weeks speculation was brewing that the support slots would be filled with a reformed Australian band, with Triple M reporting that “mountains of cash” were offered to Powderfinger, Silverchair and Jet to reform for one of the most coveted slots in world music.

However it would appear that is not the case, with five-piece Swedish garage punk band The Hives and Aussie rockers Kingswood locking down the supporting band positions.

The Hives are no strangers to Australia, after rocking audiences at last year’s Big Day Out. They shot to superstardom in 2000 with their second album, ‘Veni Vidi Vicious’ which featured their breakout single Hate To Say I Told You So. Their latest album, ‘Lex Hives’ was self-produced and mixed by Grammy award winner Andrew Scheps.

Melbourne four-piece Kingswood have had a huge few years, which have seen them play numerous festivals including Splendour In The Grass, Big Day Out, Groovin’ The Moo and Falls Festival. Last year the band returned from Nashville after recording their debut album which had a top ten debut in the national ARIA charts and went on to receive an ARIA nomination for Best Rock Album.

AC/DC last toured the world from 2008 to 2010 after releasing their ‘Black Ice’ album, which saw AC/DC play to over 5 million fans in 108 cities across over 28 countries.

They have had a turbulent few months, with founding member and rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young forced in to retirement with health problems, and drummer Phil Rudd facing legal troubles in New Zealand.

However it seems that rock ‘n’ roll will never die when it comes to AC/DC, and the band is still selling out stadiums across the globe.
