Cheap Fakes are currently gearing up for the release of their third studio album, ‘Modern Vintage’ next month on the 9th of October and to celebrate they have added new dates to their launch tour.
The Brisbane six piece will be kicking it off in style, playing a string of shows throughout South-East Queensland with Sydney and Melbourne dates just announced.
‘Modern Vintage’ is an aptly named record that brings a modern approach to a classic brass fuelled funk sound. Working with John Merchant (Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Bee Gees, Barbra Streisand) has made the production of this record world class with the band’s performances equally impressive. Merchant used his experience to capture the essence of the band’s live energetic performances.
The first two singles Just In Case and Baby It’s A Good Song have had great success on Australian radio and the band have added loads of exciting support slots including Cody Chesnutt, Charles Bradley, Melbourne SKA Orchestra and The Black Seeds.
After working together famed producer, John Merchant was singing their praises commenting on them, saying ‘(Cheap Fakes) have so many elements that make them really interesting. Super solid rhythm section, good guitar players, Scotty French (guitar) brings a lot to the table, horn players are great, really inventive with great tone and Hayden has a great voice and I think for me, thats really the draw.’
The boys will be hitting the road after the release of ‘Modern Vintage’, kicking off right here in Brisbane!
