Things just keep on looking up for Dan Sultan. The ARIA award winning artist has just gone Gold with his latest album Blackbird, clocking over 35, 000 sales in the process.
Ever since it debuted at #4 on the ARIA Album Charts last April, Blackbird has proved to be a break through for Sultan, achieving a number feats such as the ARIA Best Rock Album and AIR Best Blues and Roots Album. On top of this, Sultan took out the coveted Best Male Artist at The Age Music Victoria Awards.
"I really want to thank my family, my friends, my label and my management for working so hard to get me to gold. But most of all, I need to thank my fans because without them I wouldn't get the chance to do what I love. It's no small feat in this day and age to get to gold, and I truly appreciate everything that everyone has done for me." – Dan Sultan
The Gold accreditation is a fantastic achievement for Sultan whose special brand of roots and rock has been flying under the radar for some time. Exposure of his music now comes from far and wide, including but not limited to triple J, Triple M and the ABC.
On the back of this success Sultan has announced a series of dates for a national solo tour. The shows will take a slightly more relaxed approach as fans will have the opportunity to get up and close with shows at several intimate venues. Those attending though will still expect to hear a few tunes from Blackbird and the more recent EP Dirty Ground despite the stripped back vibe.
Shows begin on the 19th of February at the Aurora Spiegeltent in Adelaide.
Tickets for the tour are on sale now via dansultan.com.
