Illusive is proud to announce the Australian return of San Francisco deep house favourite Miguel Migs in late February. The four-date jaunt will cover Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth over two weekends.
Kicking off his illustrious career in 1998 with ‘The Mercury Lounge’ EP on his own Transport Recordings, Miguel has slowly but surely moved beyond the limitations of the house scene in which he first made his name. His deep seated love of reggae and dub shines strongly through as well as his passion for classic rock, blues, funk and soul.
With close to two dozen EPs and three LPs to his name in a career spanning fifteen years, Miguel has earned a reputation as one of deep house’s most respected and continually exciting figures. Just look the list of collaborators he’s managed to attract: original disco diva Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King, reggae legends Capleton, Half-Pint and Freddie MacGregor, Meshell Ndegeocello, nu-jazz singer Georg Levin and bossa nova phenomenon Bebel Gilberto all feature on the album, alongside Migs’ regular vocal co-conspirators, Aya and Lisa Shaw. No slave to metronomic dancefloor rhythms and tempos, the resulting long-player blends influences from house, jazz, reggae, soul and more, with a heavy emphasis on high-quality songwriting – and equally high production values.
