ALLEN STONE Announces Debut Australian Tour!
Bluesfest Touring are thrilled to announce Allen Stone, the blue-eyed soul singer from Seattle will be touring Australia for the first time in March!
Combining socially-charged lyrics, R&B vocals with a dash of Southern Soul all set against a backdrop of uplifting horns and driving keyboards, Allen Stone has drawn comparisons to Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Donny Hathaway and Bill Withers from The New York Times.
Allen Stone will be bringing his unmistakable blend of soul to Northcote Social Club in Melbourne on Thursday 28 March followed by Blue Beat Live in Sydney on Saturday 30 March.
Tickets to both shows will go on sale at 9:00am, Wednesday 23 January.
The son of a preacher man, Allen Stone like many soul singers, got his start in church.
Surrounded by gospel music, Allen didn’t discover soul music until he was a teenager and started collecting classic albums from the 60’s and 70’s. “Soul music from that time wasn’t just about bumpin’ and grindin’ at the club- it was a huge part of a cultural movement. That’s where my inspiration comes from” explains Allen.
From the Church to the screen, Allen’s first US national TV appearance on Conan came after the music booker saw a youTube video of Allen performing in his mother’s living room . Since then, Allen Stone has appeared on Ellen, The Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Last Call with Carson Daly just to name a few.
