In less than a month, singer and storyteller Jens Lekman will arrive in Australia, bringing his gorgeous world of witty pop to Sydney, Brisbane, Perth & Melbourne stages for the first time in as long as we remember.
Jens is pleased to reveal Courtney Barnett as the special guest to his east coast performances – her charming blend of garage scaling country, blues and slacker pop with deadpan and melody in equal measure.
Evoking cinema and suburbia across her dream-like second album, To The Dollhouse, Melodie Nelson joins Jens’ Valentine’s Day special at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Thursday 14 February, and Melbourne’s Garden Party line-up – an outdoor show that will take place from the early evening on Friday 15 February.
At Brisbane’s Zoo on Saturday 16 February, Scraps’ patchwork electronica will open proceedings, setting glitchy synthscapes to sweetly climbing vocals and an array of textured, looped and layered sounds.
With their endless palette of strings, samples and keys, Jens and his full band will weave the songs of 2012’s full-length I Know What Love Isn’t through a set-list which also remembers his celebrated LP Night Falls Over Kortedala when making their very welcomed Australian return.
