Tuka - Kendrick Lamar & Stats !
Not eight weeks after his second solo album Feedback Loop dropped and Tuka’s tour diary is still burning up with dates. Following on from 11 straight weeks of touring with the Big Village crew on their Big Things Vol 2 compilation run, a sold out East Coast Thundamentals tour, and then his own album launch shows, Tuka has now been invited to support Compton MC Kendrick Lamar on the East Coast leg of his first Australian tour.
It couldn’t be a more apt way to see out 2012 for the two rappers who shared the same release date for their albums and subsequently the top 2 spots respectively on the iTunes Hip Hop Charts. Now they are going to share the stage for some red hot, already-sold-out December dates. Merry Christmas, hip hop!
It’s an encouraging nod to Tuka, an artist who is right on top of his game. Both singles to be lifted from the Feedback Loop thus far - ‘Just To Feel Wanted’ & ‘Die A Happy Man feat. Jane Tyrrell’ - have received a national pasting on Triple J rotation, but it’s not just the j’s. Tuka’s been owning AMRAP’s AitIt Charts (peaking at #1 including 5 consecutive weeks in the Top 5 on the NOW chart) and radio across the country have been unanimous, 3RRR ‘Soundscape’, 3PBS ‘Tipsheet’, 4ZZZ Top Ten, 2SER ‘Feature Album’, FBI ‘Sunsets Feature Album’ and the list goes on. The fact that his Sydney launch sold out indicates that Tuka supporters are also as thick on the dancefloor as they are on the airwaves, and in the charts - Feedback Loop:
