Birdy Adds 2nd Sydney Show to Debut Tour

Birdy

Ahead of her first-ever Australian shows next year, BIRDY has added a second Sydney show to her debut national tour.

Tickets are on sale now for Birdy’s second night at the Sydney Opera House on Saturday April 13. Head to www.livenation.com.au for full tour and ticketing information.

The teenage English singer and songwriter Jasmine van den Bogaerde - AKA Birdy - is an astonishingly focused and charismatic live performer for one so young, captivating the audience with her stunning ability to take songs and make them her own.

Birdy’s beautifully crafted, self-titled album hit the #1 spot on the ARIA chart and has now reached double platinum sales. Powered by her ARIA # 2 and now four-times platinum single of Bon Iver's ‘Skinny Love’ (a #1 airplay hit) and the platinum ‘People Help The People’, the brilliant debut showcases her voice - pure, powerful and steeped in soul.

Earlier this month, Birdy recorded an exclusive Australian cover of John Butler Trio’s 2004 single ‘What You Want’.

The track, recorded especially for her Aussie audience, features on a deluxe edition release of the debut album, available now through Warner Music Australia.

Don’t miss one of the finest new young talents to emerge from the UK, Birdy, at:

2nd show – on sale now (all ages, reserved seating) Birdy has invited and is pleased to welcome two support acts at all shows, 20 year old UK singer/songwriter, Lewis Watson,

and local Australian act Lakyn Heperi.

Hailing from Oxford, Lewis Watson has built a large on-line audience for his own compositions, releasing a debut EP ‘It’s Got Four Sad Songs On It, BTW’ which topped the iTunes singer-songwriter chart on the first day of release, outselling the likes of Adele, Madonna and Ed Sheeran in the process. Highlighting Watson’s emotive vocals across four intimate songs based on his own experiences, the EP attracted major label interest, leading to Watson signing with Warner Bros. UK.

Watson has already visited Australia, playing three “guerilla” gigs at short notice to enthusiastic audiences of new fans, and has played more than 200 UK shows, including his own debut headline tour.

Lakyn shot into the spotlight following an audition for ‘The Voice’, going on to make it all the way the semi-finals.

But Lakyn’s love of music developed long before his reality show discovery.

After breaking his ankle at 16, Lakyn turned to guitar and began teaching himself to cover musical greats, including Led Zeppelin. From there he was inspired to write his own material and his passion for music continued to grow. The culmination of his writing sessions is the debut EP, ‘Better Than That’, which announces Lakyn as one of the country’s most promising new artists.
