The Presets Announce Additional Dates for National Tour
Less than one week since on-sale and The Presets announce additional dates to their upcoming Australian tour - with new shows announced for Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
This news arrives at the same time that their latest album, Pacifica, is certified Gold for sales in Australia. Pacifica, their third album, is already their most critically acclaimed to date. It has earned a J Award nomination, a shortlist entry for the AMP Awards and has been announced as the Herald Sun, Daily Telegraph, Courier Mail and Adelaide Advertiser’s #1 ‘Best Album of 2012’ in News Ltd’s national HIT supplement. Writes Cameron Adams:
“Electronic music took a battering this year. Then The Presets reminded you it can be done with intelligence, creativity and passion too. Plus plenty of arm-waving moments too.”
Expect arm-waving moments en masse with their upcoming concerts. The new live show covers all of the key moments from their new album Pacifica, while also taking in favourites from Beams and Apocalypso, interpreting many older tracks with bold, exciting and infectious reworkings. The design for the show was masterminded by Martin Phillips, well-known for his amazing lighting work for the likes of Daft Punk, Kanye West and Lady Gaga.
Across the last decade the band has brought their explosive show to countless stages and festivals in over 30 countries. This year the band was voted by their industry peers as Best Live Act at the 2012 In The Mix Awards who decree:
“It's been four years between album releases, but Kim and Julian prove they are a major drawcard and that they can rock a stage, being of the first local acts to ever headline a Parklife line-up.”
As many would know, The Presets captured the world’s imagination with their blitzkrieg of an album, the sophomore Apocalypso. Spawning five hit singles and exceeding Triple Platinum sales in Australia, Apocalypso set dizzying new heights for dance music in Australia. The single My People stayed in the ARIA charts for over 75 weeks, making it the longest charting Australian single in ARIA chart history.
Pacifica boldly ventures into new, uncharted musical territories. Traversing both light and shade in energy and emotion, the album was produced by the band and mixed in Los Angeles with Tony Hoffer.
The Presets will be joined nationally by local dance luminaries Parachute Youth and Light Year, both acts making huge waves in dance circles internationally in their own right.
Award winning directors, New Zealand’s Special Problems, have directed a video for the band’s latest single Promises. Collaging live action with computer generated animations, Promises is a stunning patchwork of micro-films stitched together to make one moving macro-film.
