Deena Has The Blues With New Track
Indie blues-rocker Deena is back at it again with a brooding new single called Turpentine and another national tour set to begin later this month at Black Bear Lodge.
It’s only been three years since she started playing music, but Brisbane based gal Deena has already achieved much success and is already labelled a seasoned performer with a new single just being announced to kick off her national tour.
Backed by her band (consisting of Joe Fallon, Jasper Gundersen and Jack Walton) Deena has been around the globe for her two albums Lone Wolf and Black Cat with a national tour, appeared at a string of festivals and played shows in the USA, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Japan.
Mixed in the City of Angels by award winning producer Neil Baldock (Crowded House, Bic Runga, Shihad) and premiered exclusively on Music Feeds, Deena’s new single ‘Turpentine’ is a brooding look into the consuming power of darkness. Through the lens of a haunted modern blues, Deena’s pain is the portrait of a user and abuser whose destructive habits cause nothing but what they promise. From the opening verse, the songstress, alone with her electric guitar, sings with a stirring tenderness that unfolds alongside her band and develops toward a powerfully distorted reprise.
To celebrate the release of her new single, Deena kicked off her national tour in Brisbane on the weekend and will pass through a capital city near you (unless you live in Perth) throughout October.
