Half Moon Run Unveil Single Off New Album

Big news coming from the guys at Half Moon Run, with the Canadian outfit announcing that their second album ‘Sun Leads Me On’ will be released on 23 October 2015.

Pre-orders for the album are available today via iTunes and JB Hi-Fi, but for those of you who can’t wait the first single off the album, Trust, has been dropped (check it out below!)

Trust is somewhat of a strange song,” founding member and multi-instrumentalist Dylan Phillips said.

“It’s a departure from what you might normally expect from us.”

“It’s the last song we wrote and recorded, and it was put together with a lot of fragmented ideas and somewhat of a chaotic energy.”

“It feels a little bit like starting from the end, but leaves plenty of room to work back towards the beginning.”

‘Sun Leads Me On’ is the long awaited follow up to their 2012 Gold record ‘Dark Eyes’.

After touring the world for two years with the likes of Mumford & Sons and Of Monsters and Men, the band returned to Montreal in late 2014. Despite the successful tour, which included two sold out headline tours of Australia, the band admits that it was difficult to start work on the new album and had to push through months of creative frustration.

“’Sun Leads Me On’ came from a place that felt a little bit like being underwater,” Phillips said.

“You kept powering through because ultimately it was worth it.”

“You had this beautiful thing, this wonderful chance, but through a lot of darkness, losing lots of friends, having struggled at home, losing your sense of home, trying to let the music guide you but having trouble finding even that.”

The breakthrough came from a spontaneous trip to California where the sun and the surf inspired the mellowed sound of ‘Sun Leads Me On’.

‘Sun Leads Me On’ is the sound of a band with less to prove and more to say, and I can’t wait to see them on our shores again.
