Florence + The Machine Tug All New Heartstrings

The latest sneak peak of their forthcoming album has been dropped as Florence and the Machine leaves us with the biggest musical blue balls with the emotionally charged ballad St Jude.

We're so used to the powerful epics the UK band have been come known for but taking it back a notch St Jude is making us feels things they haven't done before. The gentle and spiritual number features a lot of light brass and atmospheric ambience with Florence Welsh's goddess like vocals cutting right through. It's gorgeous.

This single as well as What Kind of Man, dropped a few weeks ago, will feature on their upcoming third studio album titled 'How Big How Blue How Beautiful' and will feature this uplifting, strangely melancholic optimism in lyricism. Set to release on June 9, the record is said to be about embracing life rather than avoiding it. "'Ceremonials' was so fixated on death and water, and the idea of escape or transcendence through death,” says Welsh. “But the new album became about trying to learn how live, and how to love in the world rather than trying to escape from it. Which is frightening because I’m not hiding behind anything but it felt like something I had to do.”

The first taste of a new Florence and the Machine style and really adds a new element. If the band are able to marry the anthems and ballads like the two singles dropped so far, we're expecting big things from the album.
