It's hard to do anything but 'Listen Up' when the newest single from Dark Fair drops. It all kicks off with that killer guitar riff and from that moment on, you know that this song is going to be strong, punchy and a full on head banging tune full of girl-power goodness.
The Melbournite's have released what has quickly been deemed a summer power anthem drenched in industrial pop. It's about breaking off the chains, standing up and being heard. It's about saying no to emotional trips and being someone's sucker punch.
Recorded with legendary producer Lindsay Gravina (Violent Soho, Magic Dirt, Lurch and Chief) at Melbourne's Birdland studio, this garage rock/pop fusion duo consists of Ramona Moore (lead guitar/vocals) and drummer Ellie Dunn (aka Snowy).
Both share a deep love of black jeans, single-malt scotch, early 80s/90s music and vegetarian spring rolls.
The band formed in midst of winter, 2012, with their first rehearsal at Bakehouse Studios. Seven months later they were invited by Adalita to support her on a national tour. Since then, Dark Fair has played with the likes of Veruca Salt, They Might be Giants, Kingswood, Bloods, and Jen Cloher.
In 2014, they released their debut EP, You Shouldn't Be Mine, with the help of co-producer Neil Thomason and Adalita Srsen on bass guitar. The EP received rave reviews, with lead single "Poison" receiving high-rotation on Double J.
Dark Fair launches "Listen Up" at The Old Bar on February 28 with supports from Ouch My Face and Claws and Organs.
