The Delta Riggs Smash Like A Version & Announce New Album

They might look like four dudes who've just stepped out of a time machine from the UK circa the 1970's with their long hair and rose coloured glasses but The Delta Riggs are certainly keeping with the times, covering Glass Animals 'Gooey' on Triple J's like a version and announce their new album 'Dipz Zebazios' due out Oct 10.

Promising a huge progression from their acclaimed 2013 debut (‘Hex.Lover.Killer’), The Delta Riggs’ new full-length will highlight the ambitions of a group unwilling to sit at idle. A sprinkle of sonic influence can be heard the likes of psych icons Primal Scream and art rock mainstays Divine Fits – both of whom the band have toured with in the past 18 months. Yet ‘Dipz Zebazios’ rhythmic palette draws from even more disperate worlds, taking inspiration from sources as startling as The Roots and Outkast.

"Dipz Zebazios as a whole is heavily inspired by the ideas of mixing  classic hip hop and R&B production styles with a punk ethos and Analogue headspace," says frontman Elliot Hammond.

"Everything you hear on this Record is played by hand with an actual instrument although it won't always appear that way. We've gotten around sonic dilemmas in the the most unorthodox kind of ways, to me that's pretty punk rock to be tricking not only our ears but hopefully yours too."

Following a national Australian tour supporting Kasabian earlier this month, The Riggs' will take their new material to the USA in October, including Culture Collide in L.A and San Francisco and CMJ in New York. In anticipation, The Windish Agency has come on board to represent the band in North and South America.

“We saw them destroy some little venue in NYC at last years CMJ and continued the dialogue with them through the last year," says Windish's John Bongiorno. "When we got the new recordings, it seemed like a total no brainer."

Australian tour dates will be announced in coming weeks. Watch the awesome cover from this mornings Like A Version here!
