New Boutique Sydney Event Announces Line-up of Washington, The Rubens and Emma Louise
Lost Picnic is the newest boutique event on the Sydney scene, taking place in Centennial Park this coming March.
Everyone’s favourite Brisbane songstress Megan Washington has just released ‘Limitless’, the second single from her forthcoming second album There, There, complete with a new video.
Since the release of her breakthrough debut album ‘I Believe You Liar’ in 2010 Washington has been touring the planet and making quite the name for herself.
At the time Washington was just 23 years old when she took home both ARIA and APRA awards for the multi platinum-selling LP solidifying herself as one of Australia’s most recognized and talented voices in the industry.
‘Limitless’ comes after Washington reconnected with Samuel Dixon (Sia, Adele) in London and exemplifies what’s to come of the collaboration.
With performances on the recording from the likes of Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint) and Leo Abrahams (Pulp, Brian Eno), and mixing duties falling to Tchad Blake (Arctic Monkeys, Black Keys) the resulting single is world-class.
For the visual counterpart, Washington has kept things nice and modest, focusing on the social dynamic that eventuates in an elevator. Simple, sure, but somehow she makes it seem like the coolest place in the world. Perhaps it’s her cropped purple bob or head bobbing or suspicious glances at her fellow elevator riders. I’m not sure, but despite being the longest elevator ride ever, I couldn’t stop watching.
You would never in a million years guess when hearing her sing, but Megan Washignton has spent her life struggling to come to terms with a stutter. Speaking at a TedX talk in Sydney Washington gives a funny, sweet, honest and inspirational account of how she's lived with and overcome living with a speech impediment through music.
