It feels as though it's been a long time coming but this morning Angus and Julia Stone released "Heart Beats Slow", the first single from our favourite Aussie siblings brand new album. This re-union is all thanks to one man, one very smart, very talented man. Let us tell you a story...
Rick Rubin is the co-founder of the legendary Def Jam label and former co-president of Columbia Records. Back in the day he worked alongside acts such as Run DMC, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys and Public Enemy to popularise hip-hop. This man has worked with most of the biggest names in music, including: Black Sabbath, Sheryl Crow, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Linkin Park, Lana Del Rey, ZZ Top, Adele, Aerosmith, Johnny Cash, Jay Z, Slipknot, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, U2, AC/DC, Justin Timberlake and Weezer, just to name a few.
With such a wide repertoire of artists and a name producing some of the most well known albums of recent years, it's no surprise this man took an interest in Angus and Julia. The Stones were on opposite sides of the world, both pursuing their own careers as individual artists when they received an email from the influential producer who requested to work with both of them, together.
“We were in such a good place with being on our own path that this idea of getting back together, it took a long time to agree,” Julia said. But, boy are we glad they did!
Angus and Julia Stone are now signed to Rubin's label amidst the plans to release their third album together on the 1st of August. This is refreshing news for fans of the two, considering the last time we heard from them was in 2010 with their album 'Down The Way' which featured hit single 'Big Jet Plane'.
Rubin stated this in a recent press release "This album is extraordinary, Angus and Julia are truly unique musicians. They are authentic and pure people who do things from the heart. I've never worked with anyone like them before."
