It’s been a little bit too long since we’ve had the joy of adding a new Frank Ocean song to our iPods. And whilst some of us are still a little heart sore at his sudden withdrawal from Splendour last year, we’re thinking a new album is just what we need to help us forgive and forget.
It’s common knowledge that Ocean has been working on the follow up album to ‘Channel Orange’ (released mid-2012) for a while now, however we’ve not yet been able to see (or rather hear) the fruits of his labour.
Earlier this week, he took to tumblr to tease us a little more, hinting at the possibility of an almost finished album. The catch? His internal debate about whether it is worth halting the record making to see his mates OutKast at Coachella.
“"I might skip on Coachella to stay in the groove and finish this bitch. I feel like they're finna wild out though. Fuck it. Bring the helicopter out," he wrote.
In the same post he dropped the news that he would be opening for OutKast at the upcoming Pemberton Festival in Canada alongside Nine Inch Nails, deadmau5, Soundgarden and Kendrick Lamar in July.
Hopefully we’ll be hearing his new stuff very soon. If not, we’d like to ask Mr. Frank Ocean if he’d consider picking us up in his helicopter and taking us to Coachella with him?
Until then we’ll placate ourselves with our favourite clips from the old album!
