Johnny Marr Announces His Return To Australia & New Zealand
British guitarist and singer-songwriter, Johnny Marr, will be back on Aussie turf for a series of electrifying shows in January and February through Australia and New Zealand.
Eighteen-year-old Sunshine Coast local, Ayla, will be launching her debut single, Wish I Was in March 2014.
Wish I Was began as a poem written while hidden in the forest, on the property where she grew up, to escape the world. It developed into a song expressing feelings of wanting to escape your mind and to no longer exist there.
“No one is happy all the time, and when I wrote this song, I was in a place where I no longer wanted to exist in my own mind or body - so, not a great place. But I find music, poetry and other forms of art, are fantastic ways to progress through those periods of time. When you can express the way you are feeling in a materialistic way, I find it helps you to analyse and improve your situation.” - Ayla
Ayla has been performing on the Sunshine Coast since 2010. She has performed at Caloudra Music Festival, Mitchell Creek Rock and Blues Festival and has supported acts including Darryl Braithwaite and Kelsie Rimmer (contestant on The Voice).
Ayla sings with jazzy tones, though the lyrics she pens are closer to folk. Her ‘image’ reflects her jazzy qualities with a 1920’s feel, as well as her folky lyrics with a bohemian edge.
