The ever effervescent and enthusiastic Brisbane Indie-Soul crew StormChasers are diving straight into 2014 with the release of their Hey Girl EP on January 31st and their upcoming East Coast tour.
A filmclip will be released for single Familiar Sounds closer to 31st January. Familiar Sounds is a slow-burning, chilled out, reflective track that gives focus to the soulful vocal of Katherine Sheppard. The track twists and turns like the smoke from a burning cigarette. A sexy companion for a glass of red.
The 7-strong crew will hit the road in February in support of the EP and returning to some familiar spots and some new - this tour takes in the beautiful Australian East Coast, with dates taking place from Sunshine Coast to Melbourne and taking in Brisbane, Toowoomba, Byron Bay, Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne. The tour takes them to new venues such as New Globe Theatre, Sol Bar, Great Northern in Newcastle, The Lansdowne and the Reverence Hotel.
StormChasers' EP was recorded between Tanuki Lounge with Peter Golikov and Paul Bromley and at QUT's Gasworks studios in Brisbane, with the band's own Beau Jorgensen.
StormChasers' previous singles 'Someone Else' and 'Figurout' have both received a bunch of lovin' from triple j, triple j DIG and triple j unearthed, as well as widespread play on community radio across the country, including 4ZzZ, FBI, RRR and more.
2014 promises to be a fruitful year for the Stormies with their upcoming East Coast Tour. The StormChasers are hoping to make 2014 as big as 2013 during which they made appearances at Brisbane Festival, Caloundra Music Festival and Woodford Folk Festival and shows at Eaton's Hill Tavern, Black Bear Lodge, The Zoo, Worker's Club, Brighton Up Bar and more. 2014 also means that it's time to deliver all of the rewards for the pledgers of their highly-successful Pozible Campaign, where they raised over $7000 from their fans.
