Phebe Starr Releases New Single ‘Tonight’ on Inertia Access
Fresh from her acclaimed ‘Zero’ EP earlier this year, Sydney electro-pop songstress Phebe Starr presents her brand new single, “Tonight” – the first to emerge from a yet-to-be titled sophomore EP in early 2014.
Produced by Andy Mak (Boy & Bear, Silverchair) and mixed by Sweden’s Ted Krotkiewski (Niki & The Dove), “Tonight” represents a sonic journey to the far ends of Earth; exploring the thrills of growth and change as well as the tyranny of distance imposed on star-crossed love.
“This song is about the freedom and the frustration of traveling, working at different times away from your loved ones,” explains Phebe. “It was written in NYC when I was away from home for a while. It found it hard to sleep, partly because of excitement about the adventure and partly because of missing the safety of home; being in the arms of the one you love.”
Hailing from a small country-town on the Australian east coast, Phebe was Unearthed by Triple J off the back of her jaw-dropping ballad “Alone With You” in late-2012. Yet her true emergence came with the the soaring success of cosmic-pop single, “Jurassica”, which earned heavy rotation on Triple J and amassed over 40K+ downloads as iTunes Single Of The Week. Most recently, her video for “The Worst Part” – an alluring collaboration with Swedish textile artist, Anna Moberg – was launched by Harper’s Bazaar.
2014 promises to be a defining year for Phebe, promising a new EP, touring, exciting collaborations and work on her debut album.
“Tonight” is available on iTunes on Friday 8th November 2013 through Inertia Access.
