Thief Releases Debut EP 'Closer'

thief

Today is release day for the debut EP Closer from electronic pop artist Thief.

Sydney-sider Thief (real name PJ Wolf)teamed up with renowned Brisbane-based producer Matt Redlich (Emma Louise, Hungry Kids Of Hungary, Holy Holy) on the EP’s creation, including current single ‘Broken Boy’, added to triple j rotation this week.

LISTEN TO ‘BROKEN BOY’ HERE

Whilst PJ’s early work was guitar driven, under the Thief guise he has traded the guitars for synths and crafted a fresh minimalist sound rivalling the likes of contemporaries such as Metronomy, Miike Snow and Frank Ocean.

Thief was shortlisted for this year’s prestigious Vanda and Young songwriting competition for EP track ‘Closer’ and has previously played supports for fellow electronic artists Parachute Youth and Clubfeet.  As PJ Wolf he also won Triple J’s Unearthed Top Song competition (2008) and was a previous recipient of the Foundation for Young Australians Buzz Grant.

Praise for Closer:

“This gem of an EP demands a closer look and will no doubt leave listeners hanging for more.”- Acid Stag

“The four-track bundle is filled with memorable, retro-tinged dancefloor numbers – it’s eclectic, quirky and catchy as hell.”- Pages Digital
