The Drones Announce Australia & NZ Tour Dates 2013
A Moat You Can Stand In is the second single from The Drones critically acclaimed sixth studio record I See Seaweed.
Australian alternative rock legends The Drones are asking everyone, for a very good reason, to vote for their single Taman Shud in Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2015.
Frontman Gareth Liddiard saidThe Drones never once cracked Triple J’s Hottest 100 list, “[so] we obviously suck bulk ass”.
“But wouldn't it be sick if the #1 or #99 song on ‘Straya Day was the most un-Australian song ever written!”, said Liddiard.
Taman Shud is a frantic and barbed commentary on Australian culture and politics with Liddiard’s voice, along with the jolting syncopation of the percussion, shaking the listener to their core.
The music video is a satirical Photoshop affair, with moody shots of the band playing mixed with layered images of Australian clichés, including a couple of Ned Kelly’s hooking up, the heads of Australian Politicians on centrefold models, and portraying Gina Rinehart as a cane toad.
As always The Drones aren’t afraid to say what they think, even if it ruffles a few feathers.
