January 26th is right around the corner, and you know what that means. Triple J has officially opened voting for the Hottest 100. Cast your votehere for your favorite songs of 2015 and you can win a year of free gigs.
The voting platform this year has been altered so that you can save your shortlist and cast your final vote later. You can also check out what your favorite artist are voting for here.
Other alterations made by Triple J this year include the new 'troll clause' added to the official voting rules, which allows the station to remove any votes that threaten the station's indie cred:
1. Don’t troll the poll. Votes made as part of a competition that promotes a song or artist, or a campaign that undermines the Hottest 100 may be disqualified or ignored.
2. We want genuine votes, from genuine listeners. If we feel something’s preventing that from happening, we’ll look into it for you and take appropriate action.
This rule is likely brought on by last year's Buzzfeed Australia-led #TAY4HOTTEST100 movement to incorporate Taylor Swift into the Hottest 100 list, which resulted in "Shake It Off" being disqualified from contention.
